Unit 6 Discussion Question

Q Answer the following questions using 3-4 paragraphs total and respond to at least two of your peers to the following topics in this discussion. The answers are not going to be found in the unit's readings, and you will get different answers while looking for the information. Therefore use your critical thinking skills in combination with what you find in your research. Be sure to use the most recent information. (Note...not necessary to site the references but do include the sources you used in your answer). 1. What percentage of jobs found and applied online actually results in an interview and job offer and how much time does it take on average to get a job applied to online? (I am referring to professional/degreed jobs). 2. Discuss at least 2 reasons why you should also create ASCII formatted resumes? 3. Discuss at least 3 reasons job applicants don't get called in for an interview when applying online despite being qualified, have the appropriate credentials, have a solid work history without gaps, and used an ASCII formatted resume? 4. Write an "elevator pitch" about yourself to succinctly describe what you’d say to someone you were interested in working for or explaining what you did as an occupation. Be sure to include all 4 talking points.

Finding the right job is a number game, therefore, the more resumes one tends to send is his/her chance to receive a callback. But according to research, it is found that an extremely small percentage of those who apply for a job is actually called in for an interview. In numbers it is only 5/250 applicants, so by applying to more jobs, there is an increase in chances for a candidate. And most of the applicants hear back in three days after posting their resumes, though it might take a week or more from varied employers. The length of time for response depends on various factors from the employers.
